SAMSON: JUDGES 13-16, WITH DIY CHIA PET WITH GRASS SEED
No bible story summary.
DAY ONE, use READ BIBLE READING JUDGES 13 AND 16
The story of Samson is actually entertaining enough, that you don't have too "water it down" to make it for fun for the kids. Just explain the verses as you read them. I did that and my 6 year old son love this from the bible and understood it.
1) GRASS SEED: (Cheapest you can buy) take two tablespoons and water it until moist and damp, leave set for 24 hours.
2) NYLON socking, hose, etc. I found a two pack of nylon pantyhose liners at Family Dollar for a 1$, and it is the perfect size. Makes 4 crafts. Put TWO TABLESPOONS of wet set grass seed at bottom of socking.
3) POTTING SOIL (Cheapest you can buy, or good outside dirt) And fill the socking on top of the seed until it makes a good size ball that will fit into your small pot, cup, etc. Tie it good.
4) Put your nylon ball into your POT, with tie end down, this will make your grass seed on top. I use foam 8 oz cups at Dollar General for a 1$, it's a 45 pack. Dollar General also has small cermatic pots for a dollar. You will have to water your grass seed to keep it moist, I do not recommend paper cups.
DAY TWO, READ JUDGES 14 AND 15, REVIEW WHOLE STORY
AND THEN DECORATE THE POTS
Sprouts will appear in about 3 days, Grass in picture was about 7 days.
Fully Rely on God. Elijah in the whirlwind.
Relying on God, means power.
Real Bible Reading 2 kings 2:1-14
Elijah and Elisha were prophets of God, but they were also best friends. Elisha looked up to Elijah and he was his teacher. God had sent Elijah on a mission because God was taking Elijah up to Heaven. To spare Elisha feelings of sorrow, Elijah tried to get his friend to stay back. However being a true friend, Elisha was determined to stay by his side until his mission was over. At every stop, he tried to get his friend to stay, even others came up and warned him what would happen. They came to a river, and Elijah relied on God so much that when he hit the waters with his mantle and the waters parted and became dried land to pass over. When they finally arrived at the destination. Elijah asked his friend, did he have any wishes before he went away. Elisha wanted a double potion of power of what God had given Elijah. Elijah said it was a hard request but he saw him go up to heaven, God would grant his wish. Yet, if he didn't see him go to heaven, then his wish would not be granted. Then suddenly a chariot with horses set on fire came down, and a huge whirlwind came and lifted up Elijah to heaven. The wind blew back and separated the two best friends. However, Elisha did see all this, so God granted him the double potion of power that Elijah had. This could only be possible because Elisha rely on God too. He had faith and trusted God. The mantle that Elijah had fall and Elisha picked it up. As he was walking back he came to the river and he too could hit the water and it divided into dry land to walk across.
There are other stories of Elijah and Elisha power in the bible. But it's important to understand that God will only grant favor to those who believe and trust in him. Without relying on God in our life, we can do nothing of ourselves. God is our one true helper and friend. That is the most powerful thing of all.
June 2014 Matthew 13 Sower's Parable
People can't always understand God's teachings, so Jesus talked to them in parables. Parables are almost like riddles, Jesus used earthly examples and then explained what it means so people could learn more about Heaven and Christianity.
Matthew 13:3Behold, a sower went forth to sow;4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.9Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
And here is where Jesus explains what it means.
Matthew 13:18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
See, the seeds that fall on the side, and the birds came and ate them, the seeds are the people who hear about Jesus, but they get confused, and the feeling confused they stop going to church. The seeds that are planted in rocks, are the people who hear about Jesus and they love being saved, but when times get tough and they faced problems they blame God and quit. The seeds that are planted in the thorns are the people who hear about Jesus, and they want to get saved, but they don't want to stop sinning at the same time. So they don't grow in God's word. They choice the sin over Jesus. The seeds that got planted in the God ground are the people who love Jesus and they served him with their whole heart. These people are blessed by God, and the more spirit you have, the more rewards you get.
REAL BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 10:29-33
God knows everything and everything in this world is created by God. We are made in his image so that God knows every bit about us. He knows how many hairs we have, our thoughts, how we treat people, and how we like people. God sees everything. The reason that God knows all about us is because he cares for us so much. He loves us. Like a parent who loves a child takes an interest in their schoolwork and hobbies. So we must always be good because God is watching us to see how we do in our life.
ACTIVITY ONE: Counting hair. You will need a dollar baby with hair, preferablly if you have one with thick strands (like yard hair on a baby doll, cabbage patch kid for example) Ask the children to see if they can count ALL the hair on the doll. When most likely they can't. Explain to them that God loves them so much he knows how many hair they have, though them counting is an impossible task.
GOD knows everything we do, good or bad, nothing is hid from God. When we are good children, Jesus gives us a good report, and He will reward them for good behavior in their life. If we are bad then Jesus will tell on them and God will punish them in their life. Jesus doens't look for the bad things, he looks for the good. Because he loves us and he wants us to shine. God cares about us so much, that is why he knows everything about us. Listen to the video for a treat to see how much God cares about you. After video look for your bird house craft. Because we are more important to God then the sparrows (birds).
Most people take the book of Jonah as a lesson of disobeying God and the punishments thereof. They are right, however I see the book of Jonah as a lesson of how much God is in control. He controls everything!!!!
For Toddlers, Here is the short story, use Real Bible verses to make the points to explain. I have the verses in the story, but make sure what is bible and what is not is clear and each bold underline point out that everything that happen was only by God. For children 6 to 12, all four books together is only 48 verses. I would read it through, children need as much bible as they can get.
1-ONCE A UPON A TIME IN BIBLICAL HISTORY, THERE WAS A MAN NAMED JONAH. JONAH HAD A SPECIAL MISSION FROM GOD TO PREACH THE WORD OF GOD TO A TOWN OF NINEVEH. NIINEVEH WAS A SINFUL EVIL VIOLENT TOWN. WHEN JONAH HEARD HE HAD TO GO THERE. HE BECAME AFRAID AND RAN AWAY TO GO ON A SHIP. HOWEVER, JONAH LEARN YOU CAN'T RUN FROM GOD. (Jonah 1:4 | But the Lord sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.) THE PEOPLE ON THE BOAT BECAME AFRAID AND DISCOVERED THAT JONAH WAS THE CAUSED OF GOD'S WRATH. THEY TRIED TO BEAT THE STORM AND ROWED TO SAFELY. WHEN THEY COULDN'T THEY HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO THROW JONAH INTO THE SEA. (Jonah 1:17 Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.) 2- WHILE IN THE BELLY OF THE FISH JONAH REPENTED AND WAS SORRY FOR NOT OBEYING GOD. GOD HAD MERCY ON HIM SO GOD LET HIM GO FREE. (Jonah 2:10 And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. ) 3-SO JONAH FINALLY DID AS THE LORD TOLD HIM, HE PREACHED UNTO NINEVEH TO REPENT AND CHANGE THEIR EVIL WAYS. HE WARNED THEM GOD WAS GOING TO PUNISH THEM. (Jonah 3:3-4 3So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey. 4And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineve h shall be overthrown. HOWEVER THE PEOPLE OF NINEVEH BELIEVE IN GOD, AND THEY DID GET SAVED AND SERVED HIM. (Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. SO THEN JONAH BECAME VERY MAD AT GOD. HE COMPLAINED HOW EVIL THEY WERE AND GOD FORGIVE THEM WITHOUT PUNISHMENT. JONAH WAS PUNISHED BECAUSE HE KNEW BETTER, HE AFTER ALL WAS A PROPHET OF THE LORD, AND HE WAS IN CONTINUING TO DISOBEY BY RUNNING AWAY. THE PEOPLE OF NINEVEH CHANGE THEIR WAYS WHEN THEY HEARD ABOUT GOD. THEY WERE GIVEN THE SAME CHANCE HAS JONAH BUT JONAH FAILED AT FIRST. JONAH, IN HIS ANGER LEFT AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN GOD HAD TO TEST HIM A LESSON. GOD MADE IT VERY HOT AND JONAH WAS MISERABLE FROM THE HEAT, (Jonah 4:6 And the Lord God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd 7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered. 8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live) SO JONAH LEARNED THAT HE ISN'T THE CREATOR OR THE MASTER GOD IS, AND HE DIDN'T MAKE THE GROUND GOD DID, SO HE SHOULDN'T BE SAD WHEN IT WAS GONE. SO THAT THE PEOPLE OF NINEVEH WERE OF GOD TOO AND SHOULD ALSO HAVE MERCY.
Toddlers Bible Study : Jacob's Ladder.
Real Bible Reading: Genesis 28
Jacob was the son of Isaac, and Jacob had a twin brother named Esau. Jacob had made some big mistakes in his past but he did love his parents and tried to obey them. His parents wanted him to choice a wife from Padanaram. So Jacob obeyed and journey to the land. On his way there, he stopped for a rest. He dreamt about a ladder to Heaven, and angels were going up and down the steps. Our Heavenly Father, God, was at the top and he told Jacob that if Jacob would serve him that he would bless him greatly and multiply his seed (family heritage). When Jacob awoke he was afraid for he knew that that place was a godly place. He then built a pillar out of stones and poured oil on it in honor of God. He promise to serve God if God would always look out for him.

Children Bible Lesson: Jacob and the Man he wrestle with.
Real Bible Reading: Genesis 32
When Jacob was younger he did terrible things to his twin brother Esau. Yet he got saved and served God and even made amends to his brother. With all the favor he had with God, he had a desire for more. Jacob came in contact with a man, whether this man is good in flesh or an angel, this man had power to bless Jacob. The man wanted to go on, but Jacob physically wrestle with this person because he was so determine to get that blessing. The man touched Jacob's thigh and that shrink the muscle and caused Jacob to have a limp, but because of his determination the man did agree to bless Jacob after all.
The lesson is how badly do you want to be spiritually blessed? How far would you go to show God you want more from him. God will not always just hand us life and spiritually blessings sometimes we have to prove ourselves to God. Prove to him that we love God by doing his commandments, prove to God that we can try to be good by making extra efforts in Christianity. As children sometimes we want our parents to do alittle sometime special for us for being good like maybe a higher allowance for good reports cards. To prove we think we deserve that we have to prove it to parents by showing them you are studing more to get better grades. As parents we want our children to show that they respect us by maybe cleaning house maybe without being told. Parents could do a family night of games to show thankfulness for a clean bedrooms. The man in the story could of just of said yes and Jacob would of seem spoiled. Yet Jacob wanted more from God so he didn't give up until the angel changed his mind. Being good is great but in a Christian life there is always room to get closer to God, how are you willing to show God that you want to spiritually bless by him too?
Kid Kings- Would You Be Good or Evil?
Poke a hole in the bottom of two paper cups. A sharpened pencil is your safest choice to make the holes. A nail or needle will work as well. Step 2
Tie a knot around a paperclip with your string. If no paperclip is available, use tape or simply tie a knot at the end of the string.Step 3
Measure the string to your desired length. The string can be as long or as short as you want. Test the string to see what lengths carry sound waves the best.
Thread the string through the hole of one cup so the paperclip rests on the inside. The other end of the string will go through the hole in the second cup. A paperclip should be attached to the other end of the string as well, once it's inside the cup.
Stretch the string tight with a cup in each child's hand. Take turns talking and listening.Read more: How to Make a String & Cup Phone | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_8203716_make-string-cup-phone.html#ixzz2N6BrRQI4
3 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
For this activity, you need a box, a candle (matches for approve ages, not for young kids) a pen, 12 envelopes, 12 letters.
You choice someone who you want to spirituality inspired and every month for 1 year, you write to that person like Paul wrote young preachers and churches. The candle is for inspirition. Then after you have done this, you give that person the box with a candle, (light?) pen and paper and it's for them to do the same thing.
David goes to Nob, where the priest, Ahimelech, is afraid of him. David saids to Ahimelech, that the king (Saul) sends him there for business and that the king wanted it to be private. David then ask for bread, but the only thing the priest Ahimelech had to offered was hallowed bread. Then came Doeg, chiefest of the herdmen of Saul was sighted. David was afraid of Doeg and ask the priest for a weapon because David had none on him. The only thing that Ahimelech had was Goliath the giant whom David himself had killed. David manage to run away to Acish, King of Gath. People reckoned him and David was then afraid of Acish then. Because people cheer Saul slain thousands but David ten thousands, and knew that Saul was jealous of David and wanted him dead. So David acted crazy, he wrote on gates and let drool run down his face into his beard. So Acish said why did the people bring him a mad person whom he has no used for.
That is not the only time David has acted wild. In 2 Sa. chapter 6, when David brought the ark of the covernant to the city of David, he rejoiced uncovered for God in front of everyone.
For this activity/song you need someone(s) to willing be a judge.
To be crazy like David during the put your____in, put your _____out, put you____in and shake it all about. You must dance as crazy as possible!!!!
But instead of saying "you do the hokie pokie and turn your self around, it's what it's all about. You must say "YOU GIVE YOUR HEART TO JESUS and TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND, IT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT" During this part you must act nonsilly, if you act goofy durin this part, the judge(s) will disqualified you.
The one who acts craziest during the dance but without getting disquaified during the Jesus part. WINs.
